    news after a year!
Hello any one who reads this. Just realised I hadn't posted anything for a year and now I finally have something exciting to post..I am returning to the UK in ~ 4.5 months and will be living in Cambridge! I have got a postdoc in the Chemistry dept. at U of Camb. Alistair has got a postdoc at University College London, so we will be co-habiting again, after a 3 year separation, in Cambridge. Can't wait to visit everyone I haven't seen in such a long time!

love and hugs and excited bounces

I have just returned from holiday up by Algonquin national park and have dealt with 150 emails! The holiday was spent mostly walking around trying to see "mega-fauna" as Al put it : moose and bears and beaver etc. We did see moose and beaver the former being much larger than you thinkthey are and the latter being just as cute as can be, tail slapping included. I also saw 2 Great Blue Heron, one sat serenely in a pool half way down a waterfall. Tim from Salisbury and I were also lucky enough to see the Northern lights. It is the first time I have seen them and I was blown away. THey are as hard to describe as the stories and poems have you believe, however they are beautiful.

Back to work (or poddling around today!) as all guests have left now I'm back on my todd. Term starts tomorrow so I will busy for the next 4 months or so. Probably won't see Al until November now.

    Hasta later!

    A ramble
I was wondering why I am reticent about putting anything remotely personal in this diary, and I am not sure entirely but I'm not sure I'll overcome that. So it's just the mundane bits. I had the sudden realisation that on the capitalist front I am way behind almost everyone I know. My friends Jae and Mark just visited from england and they now have 1 house 1 flat and 2 high end cars..I have a bicycle and a rented room in a shared house of 7 people. THough the house is fun. Currently we are Laura, Tullis, Norelle, Jenni, Margi, Dave and me, though Margi and Jenni are going at the end of the month to be replaced by Rob and Aaron. Rob will have the room next to mine. I haven't met him but Laura said he wears black and chains, is into industrial metal music and is a pagan. Sounds ok to me - though what TYpE of pagan will be interesting!

Very excited: Al, my boyfriend is coming here at the weekend and 2 friends are flying in from the UK. Hurray! We are then going to a "deluxe cabin" with jet-tub for 3 nights by the Algonquin national park. A holiday before the university term starts.
    Must away to work.

    Clouds

    If I were swept away
By a wind from the west
    If I were lifted up
By a draft from the desert
I'd find the shapes in my dreams
And play them out in white

Once upon a time, Toronto was still smoggy and the residents were not pleased! The lab aloe vera is getting very green though. As you can probably tell my life is not too exciting right now, in fact I am having a little bit of a work fest. However on Saturday I get to go and help pick up a friend's new puppy who will be called Mojo (he is a Rhodesian ridgeback and 8 weeks old).

once upon a time a hot smoggy Monday arrived in Toronto after a night filled with bumps and bangs. The day was passed in a slightly surreal manner though some odd experiemntal results were obtained. Also on the surreal side was the news of a brown aisan cloud killing millions though if what is happening at ground levbel is considered it is not so surprising. Thus it came to pass the experiments were finished so I can rush off into the evening once more :)

    Epepys, epepys
    Where for art thou epepys
    Deny thy penguin
    And name thy birthdate
For if thou wilt not be but sworn my toeslurper
I'll no longer be a Capulet????

Just opened my account, thank-you Tim for the code etc. Not sure what to write next but I should get back to my experiments like the lab rat that I am.
